Catalogue Note
A young nayika sits with her hands clasped above her head in a gesture of longing for her beloved. On a palace terrace her sakhi (confidente) and her handmaidens attend and console her.
This painting and the following two lots are from the same Ragamala series, described by Joachim Bautze as Series V in his study of Ragamala paintings at Bundi (1987). Another fol💯io from the same set is in the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (also 🐻ex. Heeramaneck)
