Catalogue Note
The Supreme Goddess, Devi, armored and bearing weapons in her circling ten arms, strides calmly into the colorful demon army of the rakshasas Sumbha and Nisumbha. Her ferocious lion leaping into their midst, biting and tearing at her demonic adversaries. At lower right Devi's warriors also charge at the demon army sounding their war trumpets and drums.
Two additional folios from the same dispersed Devi Mahatmya series are in the collection of the Brook🌃lyn Museum, (accession numbers 84.205 and 85.22ꦐ0.2).
