Description

  • sapphire, diamond, platinum
Centring on a cushion-shaped sapphire weighing 4.33 carats, flanked by two cushion-shaped diamonds weighing 1.23 and 1.18 carats respectively, mounted in platinum. Ring size: 6

Condition

Colour and Clarity: According to Gübelin report, the sapphire is natural, of Burmese origin, with no indications of heating, of saturated blue colour which can also be called "Royal Blue" in trade. Two side diamonds, according to GIA reports, are of E and F colours, VVS2 and VVS1 clarity respectively. Please refer to the reports for details. In our opinion, the sapphire is of saturated strong blue colour, eye clean with lively brilliance. Upon 10x loupe, there are only a few minor crystals and fingerprint inclusions, not seen to naked eyes. Condition: Platinum ring mount, in mint condition.
In response to your inquiry, we are pleased to provide you with a general report of the condition of the property described above. Since we are not professional conservators or restorers, we urge you to consult with a restorer or conservator of your choice who will be better able to provide a detailed, professional report. Prospective buyers should inspect each lot to satisfy themselves as to condition and must understand that any statement made by Sotheby's is merely a subjective qualified opinion. Illustrations in the catalogue may not be actual size. Prospective purchasers are reminded that, unless the catalogue description specifically states that a stone is natural, we have assumed that some form of treatment may have been used and that such treatment may not be permanent. Our presale estimates reflect this assumption.
NOTWITHSTANDING THIS REPORT OR ANY DISCUSSIONS CONCERNING CONDITION OF A LOT, ALL LOTS ARE OFFERED AND SOLD "AS IS" IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CONDITIONS OF SALE PRINTED IN THE CATALOGUE.

Catalogue Note

Accompanied by Gübelin report numbered 14070232, dated 30 July 2014, stating that the 4.33 carat sapphire is natural, of Burmese (Myanmar) origin, with no indications of heating. Also accompanied by two GIA reports numbered 2165497991 and 5161497053, both dated 20 August 2014, stating that the 1.23 and 1.18 carat diamonds are G and F colour, VVS1 and VVS2 clarity respectively.
