Condition

Colour and Clarity: According to the Jadeite Testing Certificate, the jadeite "eggplant" is natural, Type A Jadeite Jade. Please refer to the certificate for details. In our opinion, the jadeite pendant is highly translucent to almost semi-transparent, of intense emerald green colour. Upon transmitted illumination, there are cloud inclusions, but not noticeable in normal lighting. This jadeite pendant has a very charm glow even under normal lighting, very rare quality in gem jadeite. Yellow diamond in the surmount weighing approximately 0.60 carat, is of intense saturation, SI clarity. Other tiny diamonds are about G to H colours, VS clarity. Condition: Karat white and yellow gold mount, in very good condition. IMPORTANT NOTICE: Please note that jadeite and rubies of Burmese origin and articles of jewellery containing jadeite or rubies of Burmese origin all less than 100 years old may not be imported into the US. The purchaser's inability to import any item into the U.S. or any other country as a result of these or other restrictions shall not justify cancellation or rescission of the sale or any delay in payment. Please check with the specialist department if you are uncertain as to whether a lot is subject to these import restrictions, or any other restrictions on importation or exportation.

NOTWITHSTANDING THIS REPORT OR ANY DISCUSSIONS CONCERNING CONDITION OF A LOT, ALL LOTS ARE OFFERED AND SOLD "AS IS" IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CONDITIONS OF SALE PRINTED IN THE CATALOGUE.

Catalogue Note

Accompanied by Hong Kong Jade & Stone Laboratory certificate numbered KJ 88635, dated 24 December 2014, stating that the jadeite is natural, known in the trade as "A Jade".

Jadeite of Supreme Translucency

Carved as an eggplant that symbolizes longevity and bliss, the most outstanding quality one can immediately observe from this jadeite is its exceptional translucency, also known as ‘water content’. Gemmologists belie🌌ve that translucency in jadeite could be related to its texture, and this depends on how dense the clusters of interlocking microscopic crystals are. Simply put, the denser the crystals, the higher its translucency. However, such crystals also absorb light so the jadeite becomes less translucent with increasing thickness. For this jadeite ‘eggplant’ to attain the impressive thickness of over 10mm and still display such translucency demands more than a miracle in Nature, excellent craftsmanship in cutting and polishing is also a major determining factor. This pendant also possesses a vibrant emerald green colour that is evenly distribu⛎ted, combined with rare glow of soft brilliance and auspicious meanings, its appeal will certainly captivate the eye of a jadeite connoisseur.
