The rectangular case decorated with geometric motifs, set with baguette diamonds weighing approximately 2.50 carats, accented by calibré-cut rubies, the interior fitted with a covered powder compartment and mirror, gross weight approximately 74 dwts, measuring approximately 2 9/16 by 1 7/8 by 3/8 inches, signed Van Cleef & Arpels, numbered 33790, with French assay marks; circa 1930.
Condition
In good condition. Light scratches and abrasions present are consistent with normal wear. Slight discoloration to the setting present and visible upon close inspection. The slightly included rubies display a medium, slightly purplish red hue, many with light chipping to the top of the stones and some with examples of surface-reaching inclusions. The diamonds are approximately G-H color, and predominantly VS clarity. The interior mirror displays a moss to the bottom right corner as well a loss to the foil back. Please note powder screen deficient. Dimensions approximately 2 1/2 by 1 3/4 by 3/8 inches.
