Description
- Paul Flato
- platinum, sapphire, diamond
Of cluster form and slightly articulated, set with 18 cabochon sapphires weighing approximately 110.00 carats, accented by baguette and old European-cut diamonds weighing approximately 2.45 carats, unsigned; circa 1935. With box signed Paul Flato.
Condition
In good condition. The sapphire cabochons are light violetish blue and some display prominent color zoning. They range in transparency from transparent to semi-transparent and they are lightly included overall. A few of the cabochons exhibit minor to moderate chipping under magnification. The diamonds are approximately H-J color, VS clarity. The brooch is constructed so the cabochons are slightly articulated. The brooch isn't flexible but the sapphires do "shake" a little when the brooch is worn. Although they may seem loose, they are designed to move in this way and they are stable in their mountings. The pin stems are wide and flat, the brooch was probably meant to be worn on thick fabrics like tweed or wool. Together with a letter of authenticity from Verdura.
