Description
- platinum, sapphire, diamond
Centering a cabochon star sapphire weighing approximately 50.00 carats, flanked by baguette and single-cut diamonds weighing approximately .70 carat, further set with calibré-cut sapphires, size 5½; circa 1930.
Condition
In good condition. The star sapphire is semi-transparent towards the edges, but most of the stone is opaque. There are a few minor chips at the edges of the stone. It is deep grayish blue with a moderately strong star. The star exhibits all six rays, but the legs are slightly wavy. The diamonds are approximately F-G color, VS-SI clarity. The sapphires are deep, slightly violetish blue and they range in clarity from lightly to moderately included. The mounting exhibits minor to moderate scratching commensurate with age and wear.
