Description
- gold, enamel, diamond, ruby, pearl
The pendant and chain decorated with scrollwork motifs highlighted in enamel in multiple hues, set with old mine-cut diamonds weighing approximately .70 carat, accented by variously-cut rubies, further set with five pearls, gross weight approximately 35 dwts, length 15¼ inches; circa 1870; together with a brooch fitting for the pendant. With fitted box.
Condition
In good condition. The rubies are medium slightly purplish red and range from eye-clean to lightly included. The diamonds are approximately G-I color, VS clarity. The pearls are slightly off-round with a silvery white body color, fair to good luster and some minor blemishing in the form of peeling skins. Enamel damage ranges from minor to significant and the most visible losses can be seen to the light blue enamel and on the pearl pendants. Some of the chain links exhibit minor enamel losses as well. The reverse of the pendant exhibits intricate foliate engraving. The pendant and chain bear a nice heft.
