Description
- gold, sapphire, diamond
The lorgnette set with three sugarloaf cabochon sapphires, accented by old European-cut diamonds weighing approximately 1.15 carats, the reverse engraved with a monogram; circa 1900; suspended from a 14 karat gold chain set with split pearls and opals, length 60 inches, adjustable.
Condition
In good condition. Light scratches and abrasions and light discoloration visible to the lorgnette outer case. Overall normal wear has caused some of the gilding to rub off over time, thus exposing the rose gold underneath, however this is not visible when the piece is worn. The translucent sapphires display a moderately medium-light blue hue. The diamonds are approximately H-J color, predominantly SI clarity. Associated neckchain shows tarnish and light abrasions consistent with age, opals and seed pearls on the slide are of decorative quality.
