Centered by a pear-shaped sapphire weighing approximately 15.00 carats, within scrollwork surrounds set with old European-cut diamonds weighing approximately 4.50 carats, signed Marcus & Co.; circa 1900.
Condition
In very good condition especially considering the piece's age. The sapphire is a medium violetish blue and slightly to moderately included, with evidence of color zoning, fingerprint inclusions, and a few surface-reaching inclusions, visible under close inspection. The diamonds are approximately G-I color, VS-SI clarity. Fitted with a pendant loop, with dimensions approximately 2 1/8 by 1 5/8 inches. Signature partially rubbed. Accompanied by Gübelin report no. 14105347 stating that the sapphire is of Burmese origin, with no indications of heating. Together with a Gübelin information sheet on unheated sapphires.
