Resembling the links of a bicycle chain, the necklace set with numerous square-cut multi-colored sapphires within golden frames, accented and spaced by 159 pearls measuring approximately 4.8 to 4.0 mm, length 36 inches, separating into two segments measuring 20 and 16 inches for variety of wear, signed JAR, with French assay mark, two pearls missing. With signed and fitted presentation box.
Condition
In good condition with some slight discoloration to the gold on some of the links, commensurate with wear. The square-cut sapphires display varying hues, ranging from medium-deep violet-blue to medium-light slightly violetish blue, medium to medium-deep slightly pinkish purple to medium-light purple, medium pink and medium-light to light yellow. The sapphires are eye-clean to slightly included. The button-shaped to off-round pearls range from creamy white to silvery white to silvery light gray in body color with moderate rose and soft green and blue overtones. Good luster and minor blemishing mainly in the form of pitting and cracking, only visible under close inspection. Two pearls missing. Bearing a nice heft with gross weight approximately 171 dwts. The necklace with total length approximately 36 inches, but can be separated into two segments that measures approximately 20 inches and 16 inches for variety of wear. Accompanied by a signed and fitted presentation box. Please note the pearls have not been tested for natural origin. Please note that there are two pearls missing, not one as stated in the printed catalogue.
