Of Indian inspiration, set at the front with three carved emerald cabochons and four larger ruby beads, the back set with four carved emerald beads alternating with seven smaller ruby beads, decorated throughout with floral and foliate flourishes, set with round diamonds weighing approximately 30.75 carats, gross weight approximately 71 dwts, length 14½ inches, signed Van Cleef & Arpels, numbered NY 30898; detaches into two sections measuring 6½ and 8 inches for variety of wear; circa 1971.
Condition
In very good condition with minimal wear to the mounting. The medium, slightly bluish green emeralds are lightly to moderately and considerably better in quality than most carved material. The opaque, medium-deep purplish red rubies are heavily included with surface-reaching inclusions. Diamonds are approximately F-G color, VVS-VS clarity, Both sections signed on the tongue clasp.
