The necklace set with six carved plaques of floral design, connected by rows of pearls, accented by round and old European-cut diamonds weighing approximately 1.50 carats, length 15½ inches, signed Udall & Ballou; together with earclips supporting carved and pierced jade plaques, the tops accented by emerald cabochons and onyx beads, set with single, old European and transitional-cut diamonds weighing approximately 1.90 carats, unsigned; circa 1925.
Condition
Both pieces in good condition. NECKLACE: The semi-translucent, medium-deep slightly bluish green jade plaques are approximately 0.3 to 1.0 mm thick with color concentrations seen under close inspection and a nice polish. The outer rows of round to near-round pearls are slightly silvery white with soft to moderate multi-colored overtones, minor blemishing (primarily in the form of peeling skins), and good luster. The central row of pearls are creamy white and of comparable quality. Diamonds approximately G-H color, VS clarity. Signed at the clasp. Fitted with a safety closure. EARRINGS: With overall surface wear and minor discoloration to one of the screw-on backings. The semi-translucent, medium slightly bluish green jade pendants present subtle white color mottling and very minor chipping. The onyx beads in good condition, the slightly bluish green cabochons of decorative quality, and the diamonds approximately G-H color, VS-SI clarity. The earrings are designed to follow the shape of the ear with the surmount sitting at a 45 degree angle. Nice movement when worn. Lengths 2 inches.
