The sheet undulates very slightly around the edges, but otherwise appears sound. There are several pinholes at each of the corners of the sheet, thought to be inkeeping with the artist's working method. There is an extremely small nick to the sheet in the upper right corner, with a small associated loss to the paint. There are some scattered lines of reticulation and craquelure in isolated areas across the work. There are two very small spots of lifting: one to the blue pigment where it meets the red pigment at the upper right corner, and another to a spot of the orange pigment at the centre of the upper horizontal edge. There are two small flecks of loss, one in the upper left corner and another in the upper right corner. Subject to the above, the work appears to be in very good overall condition. Ultraviolet light reveals no obvious signs of fluorescence or retouching. The work is fully laid down onto a backing board, float-mounted in a painted wooden tray frame.
