The sheet is affixed to the mount with several tabs around the edges. There are additional strips of paper adhered to the reverse of the sheet along the upper, right and lower edges, only visible when viewed unframed. The edges of the sheet are slightly uneven, with one or two small tears and traces of old adhesive, only visible when viewed unframed. The sheet undulates and there are some scattered creases across the work. The most apparent of these are along the upper and lower horizontal edges and at the left vertical edge. The sheet appears to be slightly discoloured, particularly in the lower section of the composition. There is also evidence of further staining at the right vertical edge, thought to be as a result of a previous acidic mount, and one or two very minor spots of foxing. There are one or two specks of surface dirt. Subject to the above, the work appears to be in good overall condition, with fresh passages of charcoal.
