Condition
This impressive, warm-toned early print, with its astonishing detail and range of gray tones, is on semi-matte surface paper that has been flush-mounted twice--first to off-white card and again to thin brown card. As is typical of Strand's platinum prints from this period, it has been coated by the photographer with wax or varnish. The print is in generally excellent condition. It has been trimmed closer to the negative edge along the right size, tapering towards the lower right corner. Both flush-mounts extend, with some excess dry-mounting tissue, beyond the edges of the print. Their edges are somewhat rubbed, and the corners of the flush-mount are bumped.
The reverse of the secondary brown mount is somewhat soiled and age-darkened. In addition to the photographer's title, date, and signature in black ink, the following notations, in pencil, are present, written in unidentified hands:
"good print"
"NE - ARCH - 798 TII"
"113E"
"safe 1"
