title and number '895-5' in the negative, mounted, the photographer's credit, '80 West 40th Street, New York' studio and Condé Nast copyright stamps on the reverse, 1930 (MoMA, p. 53; Celebrity Design, p. 56)
Condition
This early warm-toned print, on semi-matte surface paper, is in generally excellent condition. It is mounted on buff-colored card. The dry-mounting tissue extends slightly beyond the edge of the print on the top, left, and lower edges. There is a swath of adhesive remains along the top of the mount near the edge, and graphite crop marks at the top corners of the print on the mount. When examined in raking light, silvering is visible, particularly at the periphery.
The reverse of the mount is lightly soiled and age-darkened, particularly at the periphery. The numbers 'C-002-G' (boxed) and 'SG76' are written in pencil on the reverse.
