This maker's mark can be compared to that of José Ribeiro Fernandes as shown by Manuel Gonçalves Vidal, Marcas de contrastes e ourives portugueses, p. 97, no. 928. However, it appears in a shaped punch, not plain rectangle and was not registered until 1796.
