Description

  • gold, silver-gilt, enamel
  • diameter 9.8cm, 3 3/4 in.
circular, the convex surface of translucent purple enamel over engine-turned wavy bands, the chased leaf border within two bands of opaque white enamel, seed pearl bezel, white enamel dial, silver-gilt back and strut, struck KF and K. Fabergé in Cyrillic beneath the Imperial Warrant, 56 and 84 standards, scratched inventory number 15632

Condition

The mechanism, face and hands replaced (restorer's report available upon request). The original face, hands and mechanism included. The face with small circular hole and 7 with associated cracked enamel and repaired cracked and lost enamel between 12 and half 1. The purple surface re-enamelled. Catalogue Note

Ulrich Karl Christian, Graf von Brockdorff-Ranzau (1869-1928) served as Ambassador of the German Reich to the USSR from 1922 to 1928.  During his tenure he secured the April 1926 Treaty of Berlin through which the two states established a relationship of neutrality and non-aggression.
