cast seated in lalitasana atop a recumbent snow lion, clad in plate armor, the right hand in vitarkamudra, the left holding a gem-spewing mongoose, the stern face framed by curly beard, loop earring and foliate tiara fronted by the triple-gem

Provenance

Acquired in China between 1945 and 1949.

Condition

There is a break to a section of the fluttering scarf above the right shoulder. Two fingers on the right hand are replaced.There appears to be a crack in the end of the scarf on the figure's left and a patch in the end of the scarf on the figure's right. There is a crack on the lower edge beneath the figure's left foot, and a minor casting flaw on the lower back edge. There is wear to the pigments on the hair and traces of residue. There are also traces of residue in the crevices. There is light wear to the gilding along with the expected nicks and minor signs of wear consistent with age.
