the first of painted lacquer, the cover mounted with a Yuan / Ming dynasty jade plaque carved in openwork with a bird amid leafy flowering branches; the second Qing dynasty, of octagonal form, the cover carved in low relief with a sinuous chilong bearing a lingzhi sprig in its mouth; the third Qing dynasty, the reticulated cover with two confronting dragons amid dense lingzhi scrolls (6)

Condition

The plaque has not been examined outside of its mount, but it appears to be in general good condition. The octagonal box and cover with a few shallow chips to the edges. Small bruise to the inner rim of the cover and the foot, the former further with an associated flake. The circular box and cover with chips to the rim and a few fissures. All pieces with minute nicks to the extremities and minor inclusions to the stone. The actual color of the stones is more celadon compared to the catalogue illustration.
