Condition
Overall in very good condition. The table presents with evidence of an older sensitive later finish that has been applied at one point in the history of the piece. The finish with minor evidence light flaking, concentrated to the edges of the top. The top surfaces of both the upper and lower tiers with minor scratches and light abrasions consistent with age and gentle use. The tops of both of the tiers with a few scattered minor areas of sensitive restoration to the marquetry. The top tier with one scratch visible in the catalogue illustration and measuring approximately 1 ½ inch in length and one minor circular discoloration to the top, visible in the catalogue illustration. The lower tier with an isolated area of discoloration, measuring approximately 6 ½ inches in length, visible in the catalogue illustration. This tier has a second minor circular discoloration to one corner. The carved edges throughout with minor traces of wear and light abrasions. The frame with a few very minor separations at the joints which are stable. One of the sides with a minor restoration adjacent to the gilt bronze floral mount. The gilt bronze mounts are finely executed with minor rubbing, light dirt and oxidation to the recessed portions of the design. A wonderfully sculptural form displaying intricate detailing to the marquetry work throughout.
