Condition

Overall in very good condition. The shade with approximately 15-18 cracks to the glass tiles dispersed throughout. A few of the hairlines to the lower border have been sensitively stabilized. The shade leading is exceptionally fine and beautifully rendered, and displays a particularly rich and vibrant russet brown and green patina. The patinated bronze surfaces of the rare “Swamp Flower” base display a deep rich green and russet brown patina. The bronze surfaces with some occasional light surface scratches, gentle rubbing, some minor traces of surface reside, and light surface soiling to the recessed contours of the design consistent with age and gentle use. As expected the shade arms with minor surface wear and rubbing from continued contact over time with the shade. By all accounts the base appears to have had an early conversion to electricity by the Tiffany firm as evidenced by the period riser and socket cluster. With one replaced paddle switch, which appears quite old. The early slip-fit finial shows a complementary patina to the base and is assumingly original to the lamp. The finial is in excellent condition showing minimal wear and gentle rubbing. A gorgeous example of the model displaying a highly artistic and thoughtful glass selection, most notably distinguished by the use of “Confetti” (also known as fractured glass) to articulate the background passages and vigorously mottled glass to define the Daffodil blossoms. The shade and base pairing is beautifully proportioned and further heightens the naturalistic sensibility of the lamp. When viewed firsthand the glass is more nuanced, luminous and slightly less red than seen in the catalogue illustrations.
