Condition
Overall in very good condition. This object has been examined under black light and there is no evidence of prior restoration. With fine crazing throughout and minor surface imperfections and variations to the glaze, all inherent to the production. With light rubbing and surface soiling to the upper branch surmounting the cover, consistent with age and gentle handling. The interior recessed rim of the cover with four minute edge indentations; as these are evenly spaced around the perimeter it is likely that they are stilt marks from the production processthey appear quite old judging from their soiled surfaces. A very handsome object displaying a beautiful and well-varied glaze. The background tonality of the covered jar is a pale green and is stronger in coloration than seen in the catalogue illustration which is over-exposed and slightly too white.
