Overall in very good condition. All of the “Turtle-Back” tiles appear original and intact. The exterior of the tiles are intensely iridized, imparting the jardinière with a range of strong luminous jewel-tone hues. The tiles with a few occasional tight hairlines in the corners (all appear stable), and with some minor edge wear and surface flecks. One tile with a small triangular surface irregularity at the right border lacking iridescence (½ x ½ inch); another tile with a small edge loss to the left border with polishing to the adjacent area (1 ¾ x ¾ inch). The patinated bronze surfaces display a particularly rich russet brown and green patina with some occasional light surface scratches, rubbing and minor surface discolorations consistent with age and gentle use. The bottom interior (only visible underneath the liner) with wear, discolorations and oxidation. With a replaced interior liner executed in a manner consistent with those produced by the company and showing a complementary patina. When viewed firsthand the Turtle-Back tiles display hues ranging from rich ultramarine, magenta, aqua, green, and gold. In comparison to the catalogue illustration, the colors are richer and more deeply saturated and the yellow tones are less pronounced.
