- Height: 11 in (27.9 cm)
the wide torso marked by openwork arms and sharp shoulders, the forearms carved in relief with fingers carefully delineated, and face with sculpted cheeks and brows, pecked eyes framed by upturned rimmed sockets, parted lips, flange ears and the buttocks indicated at back; in speckled green diorite with remains of red pigment in the openwork areas.

This figure is a fully developed example of the Late Phase Chontal style, in which naturalistic features and sculpted areas became more pronounced. A photograph and note by Carlo Gay accompanies this lot.
