Catalogue Note

This stylized flat figure is from the Coahuayana, Colima/Michoacán region, known for the large, hollow figures supported on short stools. This was one of the first objects the Lyntons collected, describing it as "...particularly appealing in its combination of abstraction and naiveté." (Out of the Depths:102)
