Condition
Very good overall. Wear consistent with age and use within the culture. The skin on the shield is very well preserved with a beautiful thick patina.

Catalogue Note
La forme singulière de ce très rare bouclier et le style de la tête miniaturisée qui en domine la composition permettent de l'attribuer au pays Nyaturu (centre nord de la Tanzanie). La beauté abstraite de la silhouette anthropomorphe s'anime dans le délicat décor géométrique ajouré en pointillé sur le cuir, et dans les yeux signifiés par deux petits clous.
