Condition
marks heavily rubbed, the feet pushed up slightly, exterior and interior with light surface scratches and minor dings, heavier scratches around bolts under cover and underneath around base rim, otherwise good condition

Catalogue Note
The crest is that of Fitzmaurice, Marquess of Lansdowne, probably for Henry Petty, 3rd Marquess of Lansdowne and Earl of Shelburne, born 1780. Among his many positions were Chancellor of the Exchequer 1806-07., F.R.S. 1811, LL. D. of Cambridge 1811, High COnstable of Ireland 1821, K.G. 1836. In 1808, he married Louisa Emma, 5th daughter of Henry Thomas, 2nd Earl of Ilchester, principal Lady of the Bedchamber 1837-38. She died 1851 and he in 1863, both at Bowood.
