Condition
The base of the vase (on top of the stand) appears to be sprayed overall, possibly covering a break; the restoration is very well done and it is difficult to determine the exact nature of the damage. There is a very small circular hole on one side of the stand close to the edge; it is possible that the vase may have been used as a lamp before. Some very occasional scratches to the gilding; otherwise in generally good condition.

Catalogue Note
The Stadtschloß Berlin was the primary residence of the Hohenzollern family from the 15th century and was remodelled throughout the centuries. In the early 18th century, the palace was rebuilt by Andreas Schlüter (1664-1714) in the Baroque style. In 1706, Schlüter was replaced by Johann Friedrich Eosander von Göthe (1669-1728), whose own plans were only partially implemented due to the lack of interest from King Frederick William I (1688-1740). The current view depicts the palace before the erection of the dome in 1845 during the reign of Frederick William IV.
