molded on either side of the lower body with a Triton and a mermaid beneath a foliate scroll-molded rim, the pierced cover surmounted by a knop modelled as two putti supporting a Poseidon mask, sceptre mark in underglaze-blue.
Condition
One rococo element on the stem of the vase is restored. The end of hair of the mermaid forming the handle is restored; her left arm is also restored. The end of the scroll element in the center on the lower part of the vase is restored. The other handle with the male figure has restoration to his right arm, his horn; the over-spray extends to the adjacent areas. The scrolling element on top of the fish mask on the other side of the vase has a small chip. There is also over-spray to the inner areas and the inverted scrolls of the upper rim of the vase; the exact cause of damage is difficult to determine; however, there doesn't appear to be a break. The cover: both wings of one cherub and one wing of the other cherub are restored and there are very few occasional restored chips to the ends of the leafage.
All of the restorations are very well done.
