Condition

There is a skillful glue repair on the left of the stone panel in the cover and two spots of glue below the rim left interior, tiny splits in the angles of the cover mount. Some marks not clear.

Catalogue Note

This box is accompanied by a note headed Harewood House, Leeds and dated 10 December 1965, "My dear Bridget - Gerald and I thought you would like to have something by which to remember our Mother and we have, therefore, chosen this little mosaic snuff box, which was on her writing table. Yours ever, George".
Their mother Mary, Princess Royal and Countess of Harewood, was the daughter of George V and Queen Mary; she had died March 28, 1965.
