Condition

Colour: The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate, although the overall tonality of the sheet is slightly whiter and the blacks are inkier in the original. Condition: This work is in good condition. The sheet is attached verso to the backing mount in several places. There are artist's pinholes to the upper two corners and all four edges are deckled. Close inspection reveals a few handling marks along the edges and a repaired tear to the centre of the upper edge of the sheet. There is some light staining to the upper left quadrant which is possibly original. All other surface irregularities are likely to be original.

Catalogue Note

“The shapes were there and then I started to make the shapes stick out of the paintings. Then I stopped making the painting altogether and just made the shapes.”
