Condition
A Brown and White Long-Haired Dog
The canvas has been lined. There are some areas of craquelure across the surface, most noticeable above the dog's back. The surface is dirty.
Ultraviolet light reveals an opaque, uneven varnish. There are some retouchings in the upper left corner, below the dog's mouth (visible to the naked eye), and one near the centre of the lower edge.
A Black and White Long-Haired Dog
Original canvas, undulates slightly and stretcher bar marks. Craquelure patterns across the surface. The surface is dirty with a glossy varnish.
Ultraviolet light reveals an uneven varnish which makes the surface difficult to read conclusively. There appear to be some possible retouchings, including one to the dog's right front paw.
Both held in matching wood frames.
