Catalogue Note

‘Gay George’ was one of Andrew Devonshire's favourite racehorses. After the horse died in a jumping accident in 1983, these commemorative links were made to acknowledge his stable lads: Tommy Turley (Travelling Head Lad) and Peter Payne. The Duke gave a set to Fulke Walwyn, the horse's trainer, and these to the Duchess.
