A wedding gift to Deborah, Duchess of Devonshire (1920-2014) in April 1941 from her parents-in-law Edward, 10th Duke of Devonshire (1895–1950) and Mary, Duchess of Devonshire (1895-1988)

The Duchess refers to the offered lot when she writes (op. cit.), '♓My parents-in-law' were kindness itself, letting us have the furniture we needed for the tiny mews house off Regent's Park where we lived while Andrew was stationed in 🅺London, making us presents of a car and a huge double bed, and in giving me a pair of beautiful diamond and aquamarine clips'.

Condition

Aquamarines of light blue, well matched in colour, transparent, typical inclusions visible under magnification, abrasions consistent with wear. Estimated total diamond weight approximately 1.00-2.50 carats, estimated colour G-I, estimated clarity VVS-VS on average. Secure pins. Scratches to metal consistent with wear. In good condition.
