Catalogue Note

Developed in conjunction with Comex and the Jacques Cousteau, Omega launched its first waterproof watch designed and built solely for the professional commercial divers in 1970. Seamaster 600 was nicknamed PloProf, which is short for Plongeur Professionnel (Professional Diver in French).

Though most watches are made with the crown at 3 o'clock, the standard PloProf has its crown at 9 o'clock so that the red pusher is mo💫re accessible and the relatively cumbersome crown guard does not interfere with wrist movement. When diving, one can calculate how much oxygen remains in the tank and adjust the bezel for accurate timing. By pushing the red button, the locked bezel releases an the bezel can then be adjusted.

To date, the Seamaster 600 is still one of the most iconic timepieces in sports watch history due to its ultra water resistance rate. The present lot which marked “600m/2000ft” on the dial is the s💯econd series of the model. (The first series was marked “600” on the dial.)
