• manual winding jewelled movement • silvered dial, applied triangle indexes, three subsidiary dials for constant seconds, 12-hour and 30-minute registers, outer minute and 1/5 seconds track, outermost blue telemeter scale and black tachometer scale • stainless steel brushed and polished case, screw-down crown and back • case, dial and movement signed 

Condition

Please note that the movement has not been checked for timekeeping accuracy and Sotheby's will not be held responsible for any repairs should they be required. The movement is running at the time of cataloguing, please note that Sotheby's does not guarantee the future working of the movement. Chronograph starts with a slight shake and works well then but does not start on its on. Dial in good condition with signs of ageing. Luminous hands glowing but fading quickly. Glass with some fine scratching. Case with normal signs of wear, consistent with use and wear.

Catalogue Note

The present example, ref. 6234, belongs to the Oyster chronographs Rolex produced from the beginning of the 1950s until the introduction of the Daytona in 1961. Along with other round-button chronographs with three subsidiary dials, such as Ref. 5034, 6034 and 6238, this model was produced in relatively few numbers as a result of its short production period.
