Catalogue Note

This particular model is the most complicated Gondolo pocket watch known. Today only 25 Chronograph Gondolo have been identified and only 6 like this particular example with the 30 mn register:

Chronometro Gondolo watches were made especially for the retailer Gondolo & Labouriau in Rio de Janeiro who were important retailers from the 1870s. From 1902 Patek Philippe produced exclusively for Gondolo & Labouriau a specially designed very high quality calibre called "Chronometro Gondolo". Its specification required the ebauche to be based on Adrien Philippe's patent▨ed design (US patent No. 20483 of Jan 13, 1891) with the so called "moustache" lever escapement, cut bimetallic balance and also François Wilmot's patented micrometric cam regulator (US patent No 129197 registered on July 16, 1872).
