Catalogue Note
Housed within a massive version of Jaeger's most iconic case design, the Reverso Gyrotourbillon 2 is a combination of classic aesthetics with pure contemporary watch making. The large dimensions of the case, allowed Jaeger-LeCoultre to fit the world's first dual-axis tourbillon with cylindrical balance spring within a wristwatch. The fast-beat dual-axis tourbillon, comprised of 90 parts alone, features an outer carriage travelling at 60 seconds per revolution and an inner carriage travelling at 18.75 seconds per revolution. The result is quite mesmerizing, designed within an open-work layout the two carriage rotate in a spherical motion viewable with the case positioned in either location. Fitted with a locking mechanism to prevent accidental movement, the case back has a sapphire crystal display the 58 jewel movement with 371 parts and 50 hour power reserve indicator.
