Manual winding movement, tourbillon and minute repeating are all in working order when cataloging. Carillon repeating sound is in great resonance and in pace. Skeletonized dial in excellent condition, clean and nice. Case with some very light superficial hairlines around the bezel and case band, otherwise quite clean in general. Daniel Roth Carillon Tourbillon makes masterful use of the iconic Daniel Roth case shape and the beautifully engraved dial is designed with a high level of symmetry. Through the open-worked surface, the hammer, gongs, tourbillon carriage and finely decorated main plate and bridges are revealed. The commendable 75 hours power reserve is distributed by the in-house calibre DR 3300 manual winding movement by 2 barrels. Comprising no less than 327 parts, all oꦍf them are artfully arranged around the tourbillon carriage. The open-faced top left corner is reserved to display the three hammers of the carillon chiming mechanism. A carillon is a musical instrument composed of a set of chromatically tuned bronze bells. Traditionally, a carillon consists of at least 23 carillon bells. In the case of this Bulgari Daniel Roth Carillon Tourbillon Minute-Repeater, the term carillon is used to refer to the very special minute repeater complication that uses not two, but rather three hammers and gongs, each of which delicately fashioned. The hand-crafted gongs are bent and shaped before annealing at around 900 degree Celsius, hence carefully cleaned and polished before a second firing at a slightly slower temperature. These meticulous operations require absolute patience and serve to achieve absolutely identical sound quality. The gongs are actuated by three individual hammers, following in tradition with multiple bells like a carillon to play a melody. The gongs strike a C-note for the hours, an E-D-C sequence for the quarters and an E-note for the minutes.
