Manual winding movement in working order when cataloging. The clock is in excellent condition, paint on minute hand is a bit cracked but nothing serious. This clock can be hung on wall or used as a table clock, please follow the instruction to install as the body of the clock (movement and dial part) is rather fragile. Overall in excellent condition. Case numbered 31659. Please note the movement has not been tested for time keeping and a service might be required at the buyer's expense.

Arachnophobia, the term for 'phobia of spiders', is the oldest and most common phobia in Western culture. Nevertheless, with the extremely creative mind of Maximilian Büsser, MB&F elevated this fear into a futuristic expression of art. Arachnophobia is an eight-legged spider completed with a body-like clock face on top. This model was inspired by a humongous giant spider sculpture called Maman ("mother" in French). Created by Louise Bourgeois (1911 – 2010) in bronze, stainless steel and marble, the monumental sculpture (more than 30 feet tall) has been installed in various locations around the world such as Tate Modern, UK or Mori Art Museum, Tokyo, Japan. Despite its fearsome appearance, the spider is a loving tribute to Bourgeois’ mother, who used to work in the tapestry industry, weaving out textile marvels as spide💎rs do with nets.

The spider-like Arachnophobia’s head houses the regulator with its oscillating balance wheel, while the other end contains the mainspring barrel, powered by an 🏅L'Epée in-house designed movement. With no fewer than 218 components and 11 jewels, the L'Epée movement delivers 8 days of power reserve. Founded in 1839, L'Epée has been the forefront of clock-making and specialises in manufacturing high-end clocks comprised of hand-made components. The hours and minutes are displꦿayed on a black dome representing the spider’s torso. The spider’s legs are connected to the torso by ball-and-socket joints. The legs are fairly flexible, allowing the spider to sit alarmingly on your desk or crawl ominously on your wall.

Rather contradictory or somewhat playfully ironic, Arachnophobia allows you to build an intimate relationship with the spider, as this timepiece will require winding after 8 days and the owner will then have to turn the spider u𝓰pside down to wind and set the time locateওd at its abdomen.
