Catalogue Note

Sitzende Dame im Stuhl is a study for Gustav Klimt's portrait of Hermine Gallia, which he painted in 1903-04 and is currently residing in the National Portrait Gallery in London. Like the final version, most other studies for this portrait show the model standing. The present work is part of a smaller series of studies in landscape format showing Hermine seated.
