Executed on thick cream wove paper, not laid down and attached to the mount along the upper edge and floating in the mount. There are a few spots of foxing most notably to the white margin along the left edge and one further spot of foxing to the white margin along the lower edge. There is a small spot of discoloration, possibly original, to the lower part of the right edge. There is a minor surface loss to the upper right corner. This work is in overall good condition.

Tanzfiguration (Skizze für Wandbild) is a sketch for the mural which Kirchner designed for the Folkwang Museum in Essen. Due to the changing political climate in Germany, the mural was never realised.
