Description

  • Emerald, Diamond, Platinum
Comprising a necklace, to the front designed as five graduated cabochon emeralds each within a circular-cut diamond surround enhanced by pear-shaped and circular-cut diamond floral spacers, suspending a similarly-set pendant centring on a cabochon emerald, to the circular-cut diamond two-row backchain and cabochon emerald clasp; and pair of earclips and a ring; the emeralds and diamonds altogether weighing approximately 179.00 and 85.00 carats respectively, mounted by platinum and 18 karat yellow gold, earclips with retractable post fittinglength approximately 420mm. Ring size: 6  (4)

Condition

Colour and Clarity: According to four Gübelin reports, all the emeralds are natural, of Colombian origin; the emeralds from the necklace with indications of minor to moderate clarity enhancement; and the emeralds from the pair of earrings, ring and pendant with indications of minor clarity enhancement. Please refer to the reports for details. In our opinion, the emeralds are of light tone green colour, lively and relatively eye clean for cabochon emeralds. Under the 10x loupe inspection, there are minor to moderate typical fingerprint and liquid inclusions with a few surface reaching, minor pits and chips on the dome but not visible to the naked eye. The diamonds are mainly about H to I colour (with some G and J colour), VVS to VS clarity (a few with chips at the girdle). Pendant detachable, earrings with wire at the back and retractable post and hoop. Condition: Platinum and karat yellow gold mount, shows signs of minor wear, otherwise in very good overall condition.
In response to your inquiry, we are pleased to provide you with a general report of the condition of the property described above. Since we are not professional conservators or restorers, we urge you to consult with a restorer or conservator of your choice who will be better able to provide a detailed, professional report. Prospective buyers should inspect each lot to satisfy themselves as to condition and must understand that any statement made by Sotheby's is merely a subjective qualified opinion. Illustrations in the catalogue may not be actual size. Prospective purchasers are reminded that, unless the catalogue description specifically states that a stone is natural, we have assumed that some form of treatment may have been used and that such treatment may not be permanent. Our presale estimates reflect this assumption.
NOTWITHSTANDING THIS REPORT OR ANY DISCUSSIONS CONCERNING CONDITION OF A LOT, ALL LOTS ARE OFFERED AND SOLD "AS IS" IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CONDITIONS OF SALE PRINTED IN THE CATALOGUE.
