Description

  • Emerald, Diamond, Platinum
Set with seven step-cut emeralds together weighing 36.62 carats, decorated by circular-cut, marquise- and pear-shaped diamonds together weighing approximately 32.65 carats, mounted in platinum, length approximately 160mm.

Condition

Colour and Clarity: According to seven Gübelin reports, all the emeralds are natural, of Colombian origin, with indications of minor clarity enhancement. Please refer to the report for details. In our opinion, the emeralds are medium intense green colour, well-matched and bright. Under the 10x loupe inspection, the emeralds are moderately to heavily included with typical inclusions and some surfacing reaching fingerprints, but visually do not affect the transparency of the stone. There are also some minor pits and chips but not noticeable to the naked eyes. The pear-and marquise-shaped diamonds are about E to F colour and the circular-cut diamonds are about G to I colour, all are mainly VS clarity (with a few SI clarity). One marquise-shaped diamond with a tiny chip at the girdle but not visible to naked eye. Condition: Platinum mount, overall in mint condition.
In response to your inquiry, we are pleased to provide you with a general report of the condition of the property described above. Since we are not professional conservators or restorers, we urge you to consult with a restorer or conservator of your choice who will be better able to provide a detailed, professional report. Prospective buyers should inspect each lot to satisfy themselves as to condition and must understand that any statement made by Sotheby's is merely a subjective qualified opinion. Illustrations in the catalogue may not be actual size. Prospective purchasers are reminded that, unless the catalogue description specifically states that a stone is natural, we have assumed that some form of treatment may have been used and that such treatment may not be permanent. Our presale estimates reflect this assumption.
NOTWITHSTANDING THIS REPORT OR ANY DISCUSSIONS CONCERNING CONDITION OF A LOT, ALL LOTS ARE OFFERED AND SOLD "AS IS" IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CONDITIONS OF SALE PRINTED IN THE CATALOGUE.

Catalogue Note

Accompanied by seven Gübelin reports, dated from 7 May 2014 to 28 May 2014, stating that the seven emeralds ranging from 9.11 to 3.61 carats are natural, all of Colombian origin, with indications of minor clarity enhancement.
