Description

  • Alexandrite, Diamond, Platinum
Each centring on an oval alexandrite weighing 2.53 and 2.31 carats respectively, surrounded by smaller oval alexandrites altogether weighing approximately 4.10 carats, to the circular-cut diamond border, mounted in platinum.

Condition

Colour and Clarity: According to the Gübelin report, both the 2.53 and 2.31 carat alexandrites are natural, of Brazilian origin, and display a pronounced colour-change. Please refer to the report for details. In our opinion, the centre and surrounding alexandrites are well-matched, all of medium-deep tone, with colour change from blue-green in the daylight to purple in the incandescent light. Under the 10x loupe inspection, the centre big alexandrites have minor typical inclusions with one surface reaching at the girdle; and the smaller alexandrites, some with very minor inclusions, some are loupe-clean. All the inclusions are not noticeable to the naked eye. The diamonds together weighing approximately 3.50 carats, about E to F colour, VVS to VS clarity. Condition: Platinum mount, overall in mint condition.
In response to your inquiry, we are pleased to provide you with a general report of the condition of the property described above. Prospective buyers should inspect each lot to satisfy themselves as to condition and must understand that any statement made by Sotheby's is merely a subjective qualified opinion. Prospective purchasers are reminded that, unless the catalogue description specifically states that a stone is natural, we have assumed that some form of treatment may have been used and that such treatment may not be permanent. NOTWITHSTANDING THIS REPORT OR ANY DISCUSSIONS CONCERNING CONDITION OF A LOT, ALL LOTS ARE OFFERED AND SOLD "AS IS" IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CONDITIONS OF SALE PRINTED IN THE CATALOGUE.
