The multi-strand necklace composed of amethyst beads, spaced at intervals by chrysoprase rings, faceted citrines and round diamonds; together with a pair of tassel-style earclips, the tops set with round citrines within chrysoprase frames, supporting amethyst bead fringes; the diamonds weighing a total of approximately 8.10 carats; suspending a detachable pendant of later addition centering a carved jade plaque decorated with cabochon amethysts, round emeralds and diamonds necklace length 25½ inches, signed Van Cleef & Arpels, numbered N.Y. 43560, the earclips signed Van Cleef & Arpels, numbered N.Y. 52348, the pendant signed Trio, ; circa 1970.
Condition
In good condition. The carved jade plaque is intact and in good condition with some evidence of natural veining that reaches the surface and some subtle color mottling, not evident when worn. The amethyst beads range from a medium-deep to deep purple and are predominantly moderately included. The chrysoprase segments are a semi-translucent medium-deep slightly bluish green and intact. The citrines are a medium slightly brownish orange and eye-clean. The diamonds range from approximately D-F color, predominantly VVS clarity. The round emeralds set in the pendant are a medium slightly bluish green and moderately to heavily included. The necklace bears a nice heft. The pendant is signed Trio and may be a later addition.
