- Summer Flowers in a Glass Vase
- oil on board
- 69 by 44cm.; 27¼ by 17¼in.
Provenance
Sale, Christie's London, 5th June 1992, lot 104, where acquired by the present owner
Literature
Christopher Andreae, Winifred Nicholson, Aldershot, 2009, no.67, illustrated p.80.
Condition
The board appears sound. The artist has left an exposed area surrounding the extreme edges of the composition. The edges of the composition are a little uneven in places, and there are some minor losses visible upon extremely close inspection.
There are instances of fine paint cracking in line with the grain of the board. There are traces of reticulation to a couple of the yellow flower petals, and to the top of the green leaf in the bottom left quadrant, again only visible upon close inspection. There are instances of surface dirt and light studio detritus, but this excepting the work appears in very good overall condition.
Ultraviolet light reveals some areas of fluorescence to the pinky orange background at the centre of the left hand edge, which appears in keeping with the nature of the artist's materials.
Housed in a thick painted wooden frame.
