Condition
The canvas undulates slightly in both the lower corners, but otherwise appears sound. There are some very faint stretcher lines visible around the edges of the work. There is some slight rubbing apparent to the corners of the work, and to the left and right vertical edges in places. There is some light rubbing to some of the impasto tips in one or two places. There are some very fine lines of craquelure apparent along the lower horizontal edge, where the canvas is pulled over the stretcher. There is some light surface dirt in places and some traces of varnish discolouration. Subject to the above, the work appears to be in very good overall condition, with strong and fresh colours throughout.
Ultraviolet light reveals several very small flecks of retouching along the left vertical edge.
The work is float mounted and presented in a gilt wooden frame. There is black tape adhered around the sides of the canvas, which is lifting slightly in one or two places.
